Degree Completion Award

Overview

The UAF Graduate School is pleased to offer tuition, fee, and insurance coverage to support students in completing their graduate degree. These awards are competitive and are based on a review of an applicant's Annual Academic Progress Report, Advancement to Candidacy, and their degree completion timeline. Students may receive only one completion award per degree. Funding is applied in the semester (fall, spring, or summer) immediately following the application.

What the award covers:

  • Up to 3 credits of UAF tuition, consolidated and infrastructure fees, and graduate student health insurance.
  • Funding covers only the exact number of credits needed to graduate (e.g., if you only need 1 credit to complete your degree, only 1 credit will be covered).
  • Eligible courses are restricted to 600-level Thesis (699) or Project (698) credits.
    • Exceptions: Non-thesis or non-project courses will only be covered if the course is explicitly required for degree completion and is listed on the student's approved Advancement to Candidacy form.
  • Undergraduate courses are not covered under any circumstances.
