Academic discoveries are transferred to industry through technology transfer, a collaborative process enabled by the Bayh-Dole Act of 1980, which allows universities to retain patent rights on federally funded research to license discoveries for public and commercial benefit.

Numerous professors, students, and staff have participated in the Tech Transfer process. You can see current licensable innovations here.
