Vision
At UAF, we work to create a respectful culture that offers a place for everyone. This work requires continuous examination of organizational practices, norms and culture, followed by actions to improve them. We are a positive, human-centric university focused on individual and community well-being. We celebrate the unique strengths and varied perspectives of UAF students and employees.
Aspirations
A respectful culture of belonging:
- Honors and values the individuals in our community. Members of our community appreciate one another for being unique individuals whose different experiences and perspectives contribute to a greater whole. As a result, UAF employees and students feel a sense of worth and value.
- Proudly includes individuals at all levels of the organization who represent a wide array of backgrounds — including backgrounds representing the many distinct cultures and demographics in the state of Alaska, as well as from around the world.
- Welcomes all members of our community and encourages their participation and success. Students feel supported from their first day and see role models they identify with at all levels and in all positions at UAF, from the student body to faculty and administrative leadership.
- Creates a university environment — from artwork on display to marketing materials — that reflects our community.
- Shows kindness and compassion as part of daily life. We demonstrate care toward others and ourselves, and we proactively focus on improving individual and community well-being.
