Coming this fall: Help us review UAF's web content

Aug. 27, 2026

University Relations will launch a campuswide review of webpages and published documents this fall to help ensure UAF's web content is current, useful and accessible.

Each department will receive a customized inventory of the webpages and documents (including PDFs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files) associated with its website. Departments will be asked to review their inventory and identify content that should be deleted, archived or retained.

The goals are simple: Reduce outdated content, preserve information that still has long-term value, and focus accessibility improvements on the documents that are actively used by students, employees and the public.

Many departments have accumulated documents over many years. This review is an opportunity to clean up obsolete files, improve the user experience and ensure we're investing our time in the content that matters most.

University Relations will provide guidance and support throughout the process. If you're responsible for maintaining your department's website, watch for an email this fall with your department's inventory and instructions for completing the review.

Why are we doing this?

Federal accessibility requirements and UAF's commitment to providing equitable access mean that digital documents shared on our websites should be accessible to everyone. Rather than trying to update every legacy document, we're first working with departments to identify what is still needed. By reducing outdated content, we can focus our efforts on the documents that provide the greatest value to our campus community.

Thank you in advance for partnering with us to keep UAF's web content accurate, relevant and accessible.
