Michael McFetridge has been named the new bursar for UAF, bringing more than six years of progressive leadership and institutional knowledge to the role.

McFetridge joined the office in 2019, beginning his career as a university parking attendant. A U.S. Army Veteran, who used the GI Bill to attend UAF, he earned a bachelor’s degree in history in 2019 and an MBA in 2022 from the university. During that time, he has steadily advanced in positions of increased responsibility, most recently serving as operations manager.

Throughout his tenure, he implemented several major initiatives, including the active-duty military discount, the UAF consolidated fee and tuition differential for community campuses. He frequently serves on university and system workgroups and is well regarded for his technical expertise and collaborative approach to addressing needs associated with Banner, parking systems, carding technology and other business-related processes.

“Michael’s hands-on experience and strategic perspective position him to manage the day-to-day operational needs while supporting the strategic goals for the university,” said Amanda Wall, associate vice chancellor of Financial and Business Services. “Please join me in congratulating him on his new role.”
