State regulations overseeing the sale of homemade goods, such as the barley crackers made from this dough, have been updated.
A free workshop will review the legal requirements for selling homemade foods in Alaska.
Sarah Lewis, with the 夜色福利 Cooperative Extension Service, will lead the workshop from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, March 1.
It is designed for individuals who currently have, or are interested in starting, a home-based food business. Farmers and people who support local food sales can also attend.
In 2024, the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation significantly revised the rules for such sales.
The workshop is designed to help people comply with the new rules. Lewis, a health, home and family development agent, will also discuss homemade food risks and basic produce safety practices for farmers.
The workshop is cosponsored by Partners for Progress in Delta.
Registration is required. To sign up, contact Chris Lyon at the Delta Career Advancement Center by emailing info@deltacareeradvancementcenter.com or calling 907-895-4605.
The workshop will be held at the Delta Career Advancement Center, 1696 N. Clearwater Ave., in Delta Junction. To attend via Zoom, contact Eve Karczmarczyk at eekarczmarczyk@alaska.edu or 907-895-4215.
