Week’s events: ‘Bear’ Edson, leg pain, film archives, American roots music

ҹɫ���� Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here’s what’s happening during the week of June 8-14:

• On Monday, June 8, the Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series will honor Darrin “Bear” Edson, UAF operations superintendent emeritus. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
• On Tuesday, June 9, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Mark Ombrellaro, vascular surgeon, discussing “Vascular Causes for Leg Pain.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
• On Wednesday, June 10, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Angela Schmidt, film archivist, with a talk on “Moving Pictures, Moving Stories: What Our Film Archives Reveal.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
• On Thursday, June 11, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature the UAF Music Academy at 6 p.m. and Ryan Bowers and the Brain Trust at 7:30 p.m. at UAF’s Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
