Welcome to the new Cornerstone

Aug. 25, 2026

Welcome to the first edition of your new Cornerstone newsletter! Thank you to everyone from our campus community, governance groups and university leadership whose feedback informed the changes we are making this year.

One of the most noticeable changes happened yesterday: Rather than mixing events into the rest of the Cornerstone content, you will receive UAF This Week in your inbox every Monday morning. This weekly events email will cover events through Sunday evening. To ensure your events are included, please make sure they are submitted in the 25Live system at least two weeks in advance for routine events, and earlier if your event requires more extensive coordination.

Starting this semester, you will receive Cornerstone twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. By moving events to their own email and reducing repetitive content, we hope employees find it easier to navigate the newsletter and find the information they need. While we will still include news about UAF, employees can expect to see more information from HR and content that welcomes new employees and congratulates those who are retiring. We are also working on gathering more information about things like IT, safety, campus services and other things to make your job easier.

With the new schedule comes new deadlines: Submissions for the Tuesday newsletter are due by 5 p.m. on the Thursday prior, and submissions for the Thursday Cornerstone are due by 5 p.m. on Monday.

If you have information to submit to the Cornerstone for publication and your unit has a public information officer, please reach out to them for assistance in getting it published. If your unit does not have a PIO, please submit your content to the . Some helpful tips for writing include:

  • Keep it short: Items should be no more than 200 words.
  • Lead with the info that is most important to the reader. (“What’s in it for me?”)
  • Run spell check.
  • Check links.
  • Use the UAF editorial style guide.
