Dual Enrollment for High School Students
Earn College Credit While in High School (Dual Enrollment)
Earning college credit while you're still in high school is a fantastic way to jump-start
your future. Through UAF CTC, you can get ahead on your degree, save money, and often
use those same credits to meet your high school graduation requirements. Plus, the
UAF credits you earn are widely transferable to other universities.
You can take advantage of this opportunity in two easy ways:
- Dual Enrollment: Register directly for official university classes through UAF CTC
- AVTEC: Enroll in approved high school classes that automatically count for college credit.
High school students are encouraged to take classes at UAF Community and Technical College. Any student meeting course prerequisites may enroll in university classes with permission of the instructor or the department head. To register for classes, students need to complete the Secondary Student Parent/Guardian Agreement and submit their complete form to the UAF CTC Student Services and Registration Center at 604 Barnette Street, Suite 110.

The Alaska Vocational Technical Center (AVTEC) program is offered in cooperation between the UAF Community & Technical College and other educational institutions that allow high school or vocational/technical education students to earn credits toward a certificate and/or degree by completing classes in their high school or vocational technical education institution that have been approved for college credit by UAF CTC.
It is possible for high school students to use UAF course credits to meet high school graduation requirements. An Outside Credit Request form is available at high school counseling offices or through the school district main office. The approval for outside credit is given on a course-by-course basis and does not require admission to the university. Students must consult their appropriate school district officials and school counselors for approval PRIOR to registration if they wish to use the university courses to meet high school graduation requirements. CTC building named for Michele Stalder

The University of Alaska Board of Regents this spring approved a request to name the UAF Community and Technical College building in downtown Fairbanks for CTC Dean Emeritus Michele Stalder. The naming was announced during a June 13 celebration of life for Stalder, who died in February after a lengthy cancer battle.
