A Message from the Dean

Kevin AlexanderWelcome to UAF Community & Technical College!

Whether you are preparing for a career, building new skills, returning to school or creating a foundation for further education, CTC is the place to be!

CTC is also a great place to be from. Our graduates leave prepared, confident, proud of what they accomplished and ready for what comes next.

At CTC, you will learn from knowledgeable faculty, gain hands-on experience and follow clear pathways toward certificates, degrees and careers. Outstanding staff members will support you every step of the way. Whether you begin with one course or a long-term goal, we are here to help you keep moving forward.

I have spent most of my career in technical education — as a tradesperson, professor and now dean. I have seen firsthand how one class, one credential or one person willing to believe in a student can change a life. That is why this work matters to all of us.

There is no "typical" CTC student. Our students bring different strengths, experiences and responsibilities. Some arrive with a clear plan; others find their direction along the way. You do not need to have everything figured out before you start. You just need a willingness to learn and a college committed to helping you succeed.

CTC students are an integral part of the broader UAF community. No matter where your classes are located, you are a Nanook. I encourage you to attend a game, join a club, explore the Troth Yeddha’ Campus or participate in student government. Most student events and resources are free to you. A great first step is visiting the Wood Center to learn about upcoming activities and ways to get involved.

We are proud to offer a rare combination: the personal support of a community college paired with the opportunities and support systems of a major university. No matter where you are coming from or where you are headed, thank you for trusting us to help you get there!

Wishing you all the best,

Kevin W. Alexander
