The UAF Community and Technical College (CTC) offers over 40 one-year certificate programs, two-year associate degree programs and occupational endorsements in high demand career fields. Our purpose is preparing workforce-ready graduates and community-driven education.
UAF is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Additionally, CTC has numerous national and state recognized accreditations and certifications for specialized programs.
Service Areas
Classes are primarily offered at our various locations throughout the Fairbanks area and on the Troth Yeddha' campus. Our main campus center is located in the heart of downtown Fairbanks and has all of the educational services available that you may need as a student, from academic and financial aid advising, to computer labs, IT support, tutoring and wireless study lounges.
We’ve expanded our reach to serve 52 communities and villages across the Doyon and Tanana Chiefs regions—an area roughly the size of France. We offer flexible course options, including online and audio conference delivery, on-site instruction by local or visiting faculty and intensive sessions in Fairbanks and Anchorage. Our programs range from occupational endorsements and certificates to Associate of Arts and Associate of Applied Science degrees. Free tutoring in English, math, and science is available to all students.
The Tok Center covers a region connected by a road system. The area covers approximately 30,000 square miles and has a population of about 2,300 people. Communities served by the Tok Center include, but are not limited to: the Alcan Border, Boundary, Chicken, Dot Lake, Eagle, Northway, Tanacross, Tetlin and Tok. Students in Chistochina, Delta Junction, Gakona, and Mentasta Lake are also served, even though they are out of the service region. Classes are offered distance delivery via audio conference, Canvas, online and correspondence. We also offer local courses with local instructors. The Tok Center staff are friendly and helpful, and can assist students with advising, admissions, registration, Accuplacer and Asset placement exams, transfer credits, credit for prior learning and financial aid. They also provide a computer lab, classroom space, audio conference equipment, tutors and a variety of services related to higher education.

The McGrath/GASH Region is comprised of 10 communities which vary in population and are located on the Lower Yukon and Upper Kuskokwim Rivers. The villages are only accessible by air.

The Nenana Region is comprised of eleven communities located in Interior Alaska. The UAF Community and Technical College offers an array of education support to this area including financial aid, course registration, student advising, UAF admissions and technical support. Students can obtain a variety of certificates and degrees while living in their home community.

The Yukon Flats Region is comprised of nine communities which lie along the Yukon River and its tributaries. Only two communities, Circle and Central, are connected to the Alaska Highway system. The other seven communities are accessible by airplane and/or boat. The population of the region is approximately 1,320 people. Approximately 86% are Alaska Native, predominantly Athabascan.

The Yukon-Koyukuk region is comprised of nine communities located along the Yukon and Koyukuk Rivers. CTC student services staff provide educational support throughout the region, including financial aid, course registration, student advising, UAF admissions, and technical support. The region is home to a predominantly Alaska Native population, primarily Athabascan. Most communities are accessible only by air, by boat during the summer, and by dogsled or snowmachine in the winter.

UAF CTC expands culinary partnership with university in Italy

UAF CTC has expanded its partnership with The American University of Florence, giving culinary and hospitality students a direct pathway to degrees in Italy.
CTC building named for Michele Stalder
June 14, 2026
The University of Alaska Board of Regents this spring approved a request to name the UAF Community and Technical College building in downtown Fairbanks for CTC Dean Emeritus Michele Stalder. The naming was announced during a June 13 celebration of life for Stalder, who died in February after a lengthy cancer battle.
